No One Ever Asked

One of my new favorite authors is Katie Ganshert.  I was first introduced to her when I read Life After.

In "No One Ever Asked" we are following 3 families thru the same situation but with different views and paths.  It will have you asking yourself questions about how you would handle this.  You might surprise yourself.

I was given this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The Book of Joe

Anyone who is a fan of Joe Biden will love this humor filled enjoyable read.  What starts out with his childhood and continues right through his Vice President days is a wonderful, intimate portrait of real man and his ups and downs. A fast fun entertaining read.  I highly recommend this book!

This book was given to me free of charge in exchange for a fair and honest review from blogging for books.

I recently read through a copy of A Well-Crafted Home by Janet Crowther. What a delight!  This DIY book for your home is gorgeous.  The photos are inspiring to say the least.  Each project is unique and directions are for anyone's skill level.  So many creative ideas in one stunning book.  It's a must have and I can't wait to share it with my son and daughter in law for their new home.

Q & A a Day for Grandparents

I am not sure exactly what I was expecting but this is a much different approach to keeping a journal for your grandchild.

The format of a small paragraph each day for 3 years seems a bit overwhelming at first.  My first thought was that most grandparents don't spend every day with their grandchild.  After more reflection I realized that this might be something to do once your grandchild is a bit more than an infant.  The thought provoking questions will give you starting points.  What a great way to reflect on your relationship with your grandchild over 3 years and beyond !!

Say Yes to the Holiday Cookies

The ultimate Holiday Cookie Book has arrived.  My favorite part of the book is that it uses normal easy to find ingredients. There are color photos on every page and my daughter and I struggled to decide which ones to make first.  You will LOVE adding this to your cookbook collection.

Deal or Duel - For History Buffs

My daughter-in-law is a big history buff.  I knew this game would appeal to her.  Since she works in the history department at the local college she was super excited to take this to work and play with the students. I know it will get tons of use there! Great Idea !!

I was given this in exchange for a fair and honest review.

White Fur

White FurFrom the description I was hoping for a story I could dive into and travel to another time and place.  I struggled thru the first few pages and wasn't interested.  I set it down.  Read another book.  Willing to try again, I started from the beginning again.  Still I could not stick with it.  Sometimes a book just isn't your style.  This wasn't mine.  I will share with my little free library readers.

The Heirs

I honestly tried to get involved and interested in this book but it just wasn't for me.  I usually try to give a book the first 100 pages till i give up.  Wasn't going to happen this time.  I felt like the characters didn't come alive for me.  I struggled with some of the words.  Overall just not my type of book.  I put this book out in the little free library at the office where I work.  I am sure someone will fall in love with it!

I was given this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Here and Gone - Haylen Beck - Your summer read - Thank me later

I just finished Haylen Beck's new novel Here and Gone.  He had me at chapter one.  I haven't had a book that had my attention like this in awhile.  It was gripping, suspenseful, and had my heart pumping a few times.  The characters were intense and the story drew you in.  I am headed to the library today to look for more books by this author. By the way I have already picked out actors to play the parts of Whiteside, Collins, Mitchell, Audra and Danny in my head.  Maybe even Mrs. Gerber.  Would make a fantastic thriller movie !!

Braving It - James Campbell

Some people are parents and some people "parent".  James Campbell introduces his daughter to Alaska in such a way that you just know his daughter Aidan will grow up to be a strong, independent and responsible woman.  His biography of their unforgettable trips to the most remote parts of Alaska is riveting. His descriptions of the landscape, hunts and living quarters give you such a clear image you almost shiver feeling the temperatures he describes.  My only wish is that there were more photos included.  I will look for his other books to add to my must read list.

I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.  I already have 2 friends that I have recommended this book to.

Roadfood - A must have for the car!

I recently received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. I have a friend who will absolutely love this book.

The book gives you great information on the favorites of the locals.  Don't expect fine dining or 5 star restaurants here.  This is the good food.  Roadfood.  Comfortfood.  This will be great for road trips or even day trips!  Loan it to a friend, give it as a gift.  A fun book for everyone.

On Edge - This could be my biography!

I had my first panic attack in September 1995.  At the time I didn't know that was what it was.  I had dropped my son off for his second day of kindergarten and he was sobbing.  I got to my car and broke down too.  Then I couldn't breathe.  My heart was racing and I started to sweat.  My first thought was heart attack.  I was 33 years old.  My dad had one and died at 42 years of age.  It wasn't until a few years later when it happened again.  My next door neighbor dropped over dead.  No warning.  I sought out medical help and my Dr at the time was not helpful.  I switched doctors and found one who helped me with the right therapy and medication.

On Edge is Andrea Petersen's story.  Though her story is different, people with anxiety all experience much of the same.  From misdiagnosis to medications to groups to yoga, this book covers it all!

A must read for anyone living with anxiety or anyone with a loved one who has anxiety.

10 Things I Can See From Here

WOW - What an engaging book.  This story told from an anxiety filled young woman growing up in a divorced family, spending large amounts of time back and forth is a page turner.  Maeve's journey involves her overactive thoughts and anxieties.  As a person with panic and anxiety I can very much relate to her ramblings and fears.  I think anyone with anxiety would benefit from reading this book, if only just to reassure their own feelings!  I was given this book for free in return for a fair and honest review.  This book will be placed in the Little Free Library I am a steward for so that others may enjoy it like I did.

The Gatekeepers

The Gatekeepers gives the reader an inside look at the Chief of Staff in the White House.  Some people think this position hold more influence than the Vice President.

Chris Whipple gives you behind the scenes details of several of our previous Chief of Staff including Richard Nixon, George Bush and Bill Clinton.

The book is a must read for political junkies.  It will be a great addition to my little free library.  This book was free from Blogging for Books.

The Hum of Angels

I requested the book The Hum of Angels as my choice for review on Blogging for Books.  I enjoy reviewing books for them in exchange for a complimentary copy.  After reading and reviewing I share the book with my co-workers and then we place it in our little free library we have outside our office.

The author Scot McKnight leads us through an eye opening vision of the bible and the angels around us.  His understanding of the bible encourages us to view not only visually but by using all our senses.

I know that my co-workers will enjoy this book and will open discussions.

Life After - A beautiful book for all ages!

I was hesitant to read and blog about this book from Blogging for Books after reading it was a Christian Romance.  I had an appointment at the car dealer for a recall.  I grabbed the book and brought it with me.  In a very busy and quite distracting waiting room I started this book.  Lost in the pages, I found myself immersed in the authors wonderful story of survival and guilt.  Autumn is such a torn woman who is desperately searching for closure only to find herself deep in a touching tribute to the lost.  I look forward to reading more books by Katie Ganshert.

Tough As They Come - Travis Mills

When I first started reading Tough As They Come, I don't think I was prepared for the raw and straight forward story unfolding.  Travis's determination and strength are the cornerstones of his survival and recovery.  This book starts out catching your attention with his incredible story of his injuries.  Through the book you learn of his life prior and the strength he draws from.  I will be sharing this book with friends and encouraging them to read it.

Where was this book when I needed it?!?

This weeks book review is Conscious Uncoupling.  I was a bit skeptical when I ordered this book from the choices but it turned out to be much more valuable than I expected.  There is even a section on a mantra.  The little quotes scattered throughout the book are inspiring and worth noting for future reference!
