Junie B Jones Hits the Stage !!

I had no idea that there was a musical version of Junie B Jones.  This just took one of my daughter's favorite characters to a whole new level. The songs are fun and make you want to move.  This will be fun to see when local schools catch on and do this as their musical production!

Not your average coffee table book

When I think coffee table book this is exactly what I imagine.  Except this one doesn't have landscape photos.  These are some very interesting photos of celebrity men in some strange situations.  Some of the photographs were taken years ago. There are little stories explaining some of the shots and some have none.  My favorite has to be the one of Robin Williams.

Lights Out - I am so not prepared

Well here is a news flash. I am not ready for any kind of terrorist cyber attack on our country dealing with our power and resources.

Ted Koppel's book titled Lights Out goes in depth on the prospect of how we are not equipped to handle a crisis of this kind.  The effects of the long term crisis will be crippling.

Remember the blackout of 2003?  We all thought that was a terror attack.  What plans should we be making? What more should our government be doing?  What can we do to not only prepare for it in case it happens but also to ensure that it never happens !!

A detailed book but not too technical.

Doodletopia Fairies

I have never claimed to be an artist.  Well maybe once.  There was that summer that I painted rocks up in the 1000 islands and I swear I was having an out of body experience and that my sister Betsy, the artistic one, had take over my hands.

Doodletopia Fairies help you bring out the artistic side. The author covers all aspects of drawing fairies and shows you the shapes, wings and clothing you need.  It is a great book for beginners and could even be a go to book for other types of drawings.  I would recommend this book for doodlers and artists !!

Book Review #2

When you are reading books for the sole purpose to post a book review, you read books a bit differently.  This book is called Shaken and it's by Tim Tebow.

I wasn't exactly sure what to expect since I am not a huge football fan.  I knew of him and that he played football and was religious.  I think I read somewhere that he doesn't believe in sex before marriage.  You don't hear that much lately.

His book started out with his thoughts on the ups and downs of life and how he handles them through his strong beliefs in God and God's plan for him.  Thorough out this book, Tim describes many people he has met on his journey that are struggling with life and death.  Their beliefs remind him how thankful he is and how putting your trust in God's plan is the way to live the life he has chosen.

This book was written very simply in that it was easy to read and would appeal to all ages.  I feel like I got to know him a bit more and appreciate the amount of strength and determination he has to put his faith in the Lord.

Book Review

I have recently started a Little Free Library at the office where I work.  One suggestion was to join blogging for books as a great resource for books to add to the library.  Part of the deal is you review the book.  Here we go:

The first book I received was Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes.  I admit I have seen the movie and remember it as a bit boring.  This book is not at all like the movie.  It's even more boring if that is possible.  It's about a restoration of an old house in Tuscany. It includes recipes, gardening directions, weather reports, menus, etc.  It wasn't at all what I was expecting and quite honestly I did not finish it.  I will put this book in my Little Free Library in the hopes that someone will find it to their liking.
